Welcome To The Mikey Johns Outdoor Blog!

Hello, outdoor enthusiasts!  My name is Amy.  Together with my husband, John, and our friends, Mike, Sara, and Mark, we are “Mikey Johns Outdoor”.  Last summer as we camped and met a bunch of great people while talking about our products, we had the idea of jotting down some of our experiences. Anyone that has sat around a campfire, went to a tailgate party, or set out on a (insert your favorite outdoor activity here) trip knows that is where all the great stories come from!

Technically, I still consider myself a novice camper.  I grew up on a farm 8 miles from town and miles from any neighbors. Who needs to go camping to “get away from it all”??  Being a farm girl, “outdoors” meant working for me.  Therefore, for the first part of my adult life, I avoided anything outdoors.  My husband, on the other hand, was a city boy and camped all the time.  Once we were married, John always tried to get me to go camping. He worked on me and I agreed on a tent. After a few times in a tent, I knew it was time for a pop-up. Then a few times in that, I knew it was time for pull-behind.  Yes, he is now working on me for a 5th wheel.

John and I have 4 children, ages 10 to almost 22.  Strange that the less children we have at home to come along on our trips, the bigger the camper we have.  By the time our youngest is out of the house, I figure we will have that 5th wheel.
